Yum Talay (Seafood Salad)


This particular dish is easy to prepare and can be served as either an appetizer, or as part of the main course. There are many kinds of seafood you can have. Some people have only squid or shrimp but some people have mixed seafood.



 

Ingredients:

200 grams shrimps

100 grams squid

4 imitative crab meat sticks

½ cup mussel meat

½ cup sliced carrot

 1 onion,medium size

1 tomato, medium size

5 cloves garlic

2 stalks Chinese celeries

 5 Thai peppers

 1 teaspoon sugar

2 tablespoons fish sauce

2 tablespoons lime juice

2 cups water


Preparation:

1.  Wash all vegetables and seafood.

2. Remove the shells and the veins from the shrimps and rinse them.

3. Cut squid and imitative crab meat sticks into bite sized pieces.

4. Thinly slice onion and tomato.

5. Cut Chinese celeries about 1” pieces.

6. Crushred peppers and garlic in the mortar

7. Put those crushed Thai peppers and garlic into a small bowl. Add fish sauce and lemon juice into the bowl.  Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

 
Cooking instructions:

1. Boil the water in the pot. When it’s boiling add squid, imitative crab meat sticks and mussel meat to the pot. Cook them for about 1 minute or until the seafood is cooked through. Remove it from the heat,drain off water and put in the mix bowl.

2. When the seafood is cold, add all vegetables to the seafood bowl. Roughly mix and pour mixed seasoning into the bowl, mix well.Taste and pour it onto a serving plate.
